What is Colostrum?

Colostrum is the biological fluid produced from the mammary glands of female mammals shortly after giving birth. The fluid has a distinct composition different from the milk produced thereafter. The composition of colostrum provides immediate immune protection to the newborn. Colostrum contains concentration of proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, peptides and many other components that have been shown to fight disease causing agents such as bacteria and viruses. In short, colostrum is nature’s gift and is considered to be the perfect food when preserved in its natural state as opposed to colostrum that has been heavily processed and fractionated to concentrate IgG.
Colostrum secretions are designed to provide protection critical to neonatal survival during the early days of life as well as sustained growth and development of infants later in their life. Bovine colostrum is especially rich in immune factors, amino acids, nucleotides and growth factors. Some elements are present in higher quantities in bovine colostrum than in human colostrum.

How is TruColostrum® different?TruColostrum® is a whole, Full Spectrum™ colostrum that is minimally processed using our Advanced Biopotent Technology™. This helps preserve colostrum’s integrity as well as the naturally occurring bioactives and peptides. Traditionally processed colostrum undergoes extensive heat treatment, fractionation, concentration, extraction, and filtration that damages the colostrum and denatures the bioactives and peptides.

Where is colostrum sourced from to make TruColostrum®?The ingredient colostrum used for the manufacture of all our products is sourced from licensed USDA Grade A dairy farms that provide milk for human consumption. TruColostrum® ingredients do not use hormonal growth promotants in the manufacture of any of its products. TruColostrum’s® manufacturing facility maintains GMP/HACCP certification and is FDA-approved.

Is TruColostrum® ethically sourced?Yes, TruColostrum® comes from farms that promise to feed calves the colostrum they need first. Bovine colostrum is produced in large quantities by the mother cow, far exceeding the needs of the calf. Once the calves fulfill their nutritional needs, the excess is collected within the first 24 hours to ensure peak bioactive content.

Is the colostrum organic?The availability of certified organic colostrum in the market is very limited, with no U.S. supplier meeting the demand. In the U.S., for a product to be labeled "organic," it must comply with strict certification standards outlined by the National Organic Program. All entities in the supply chain undergo regular audits to ensure compliance with organic requirements. Any product marketed as organic without proper certification violates U.S. regulations.

Does Trucolostrum® come from grass-fed cows?Many products that claim to be grass-fed are not always 100% grass fed. The dairy cattle from which our colostrum is derived are traditionally fed with grass and feed derived from grass. All feed ingredients must be approved in accordance with state and/or federal regulations.

Is the IgG content diluted with non-colostrum based IgG?No, 100% of IgG in Trucolostrum® comes from colostrum. It is NOT diluted with additives like milk powder or other non-colostrum based IgG. Trucolostrum® is Full Spectrum™, and all bioactives found are naturally occurring in colostrum.
